Two years ago we made a study. What we observed was extraordinary.
After studying more than seven hundred leaders from all walks of life, from financiers to industrialists, movie stars to celebrity chefs, Nobel Prize winning scientists to entrepreneurial tycoons, we identified eight natural, human characteristics that separate leaders from followers.
It became obvious that all the training in the world will not help you become a natural leader if you don’t develop these natural-born characteristics to underpin your training. They are kind of like a “motherboard” in a computer that everything else slots in to.
Then, we got a real shock. When we tested this mental motherboard, we found we could adjust the doing, saying and thinking styles of followers into those of leaders in 90 minutes or less.
Then, we got the biggest shock of all. We realized that everything we found was really only common sense.
