In my mailbox this morning was a hand-addressed envelope containing a hand-written note. It was from the president of the UPS Stores in San Diego, thanking me for the speech I gave last week to wrap-up their three-day convention in Dallas.
This man oversees almost 4,700 UPS Stores on this continent, and he still finds time to hand write a letter to someone he met for an hour. Tim Davis is a true leader, and everyone I met at their convention was as passionate as Tim about helping their customers build their businesses. They have lots of amazing online services now too.
This is the company I want as my helpful neighborhood small business resource center. Give them a try, (I use them regularly) and they’ll give you and your business a boost: their passion, friendliness and diligence starts at the top.
Dear Nick,
I completely agree! I still have the hand written note you wrote me – the one with the waitress juggling all those plates. There is nothing more impactful in our high tech world, and although I don’t always remember this, it makes a world of difference to any relationship, both personal and business. Thanks for the reminder, the memory, and YOU. I love UPS too.
Suzette
Thanks Suzette. Why don’t people get it? It’s funny. The most successful leaders always seem to find time for these things. What does that tell you? My experiences speaking for you at AT&T in New York were always very rich in social connectedness and all the trimmings.
